Getting a facelift

Catalyticat has been neglected for a while now. I've moved my main portfolio over to seanockert.com and have been busy helping design and develop a next generation online tool for the shipping industry.

But that's going to change! I'll be revamping this site and updating it with all the cool stuff I've been working on lately. So stick around, it's gonna be great.

Lost & Found site Recovr It.

Recovr It

Lost something? Found something? Check out my latest endeavour Recovr It. It is a pretty simple concept but I couldn't find any lost & found sites that integrated geo-location well. Recovr It makes good use of Google maps and every listing has coordinates so you always see relevant, local listings, wherever you are. Check it out and sign up for an account!

The beauty of white space.

Thirty spokes share the wheel's hub,
It is the center hole that makes it useful.
Shape clay into a vessel,
It is the space within that makes it useful.
Cut doors and windows for a room,
It is the holes which make it useful.
Therefore, profit comes from what is there,
Usefulness comes from what is not.

- Verse 11 in the Tao Te Ching, by Lao Tsu

I am here for to be learning the English.

I've been very busy lately doing a CELTA course, learning how to teach English to non-native speakers. It's been a tough but enjoyable experience. Anyway, when I finish, I'm going to put up all my assignments and some lesson plans in the hope that they will help anyone who is doing a CELTA course as well. Of course, plagerism is never a good idea and the material is different for each course but hopefully someone can get some ideas from these. Stay tuned.

What's in a name?

Cat-a-ly-ti-cat - because cats are cool and catalysts are even cooler.

Anyway, how do you like the new look? I'm experimenting with something much more mimimalist and feeding my font fetish. I plan to update this site more frequently than the old one and with better content. Hey, one has to have resolutions!

In the mean time, you can check out the writing and design pages. Or visit the old site.

Bleeding Edge

There's plenty of CSS3 styles here, so if you're using Internet Explorer do yourself a big favour and get a better browser.
